New Thermotransfer Printer for Tubular Bag Applications at Domino
Domino Printing Sciences (Domino) is using Interpack 2023 to announce the introduction of the VX150I thermal transfer printer (TTO). This is designed to increase the efficiency of vertical and horizontal tubular bag machines for food packaging lines and other industrial applications.
The VX150I was developed in direct collaboration with customers who have extensive experience with TTO printers and flexible packaging. The main problems identified were downtime due to complicated ribbon drive technologies and excessive costs due to inefficient ribbon usage. The VX150I was launched to address these issues and underwent extensive customer testing prior to its launch.
Among the test customers was Woochun Foods Company, a tofu manufacturer and contract packer for many Korean food brands. Woochun Foods Company was so pleased with the printer that it became the first customer to order a VX150I thermal transfer printer before the official launch date.
The VX series currently includes the VXI50I TTO printer, which prints high-resolution, machine-readable codes, text and graphics at speeds of up to six prints per second with a maximum print size of 53 x 100 mm and a resolution of 300 dpi on flexible packaging materials. Manufacturers can also take advantage of additional packages for serialization, enhanced security marking and promotional coding.
60 percent less media per print
In addition, the VX150I has been optimized to consume up to 60 % less media per print, and features four media saving modes to suit a wide range of applications, helping to reduce waste and total cost per print.
The extra-long capacity of the ribbon rolls enables longer production runs, and the lightweight cassette-based ribbon loading system allows for faster ribbon changes, further minimizing downtime. In addition, it is all-electric and requires no compressed air, further reducing energy consumption and costs.
